RE: campground costs

We rv for 4 months a year and have stayed in all 49 states. We are now averaging between $20 and $25 a night. We have paid $45 a couple times, but balance it out by staying at National Parks, State Parks, and Passport America parks (particularly when traveling across country). We seldom make reservations as we like to be free to stay or leave. There are a few places where reservations are necessary. We always check for National parks first ( we are old enough to get half price at National parks). We then look for state parks and then Passport America parks (one or 2 nights will pay the yearly fee). If none of these are available we also have Good Sam. KOAs are always are last choice. Happy Trails!

RE: Specific campsite for Watchman Campground Zion Nat Park?

I don't know campsite numbers, but if you request a pull through site you will be happy. Loop A is closer to the shuttle and visitor center.

AT&T Rebate

I selected AT&T for my internet wirelss connection since the hot spots seemed to be a good thing for RVing. I was supposed to get a rebate on the cost of the wireless Gateway. I even received a confirmation letter when I applied for it saying when it would be sent (11-16). Today I received a note saying I was not eligible for the rebate. I plan to call them on Monday, but I wondered if anyone else has had similar problems with AT&T.

RE: interstate 15

East Bay RV park south of Salt Lake (Springville) is very nice. If money is no problem the Oasis in Las Vegas is lovely. If you want to save money stop at the Oasis in Mesquite.

RE: Anyone stay at Diamond Jack RV Park in Jamul (San Diego) CA?

There are also Passport America Parks in El Cajon. Those would be in a good location for visiting San Diego. Some friends stayed at Vacationeer and liked it. Most parks in this area are expensive.

RE: Glacier National Park, Montana

Johnson's is a good alternative on the east side. It will be cheaper and is fine. If you can dry camp the park campgrounds are great. We like North American on the west side. PM me if you have any specific questions. We spend a lot of time at Glacier.

RE: Kalaloch, how big?

If you can't get it in, there is a primitive campground just south. You have to bring in your water, but there is a restroom. It was park where ever you have room last time we were there, but you are right on the ocean. We walk the beach to Klaloch when we are there. It was nonreservation.

Tetons and Glacier weather info

We are thinking of making a late summer trip to The Grand Tetons and Glacier. Does anyone know how much rain they have had this summer?

RE: Change of Plans - Now What?

If you want to stay in the northen national park campgrounds you better check on closing dates. Southern Utah is wonderful in the fall. We have been to Coral Pink Sand dunes. They have large sites, but avoid weekends. It is a popular dune buggy park. We enjoyed it, climbed a sand dune, and relaxed. One night was enough. There are a lot of state parks in southern Utah as well as the national parks. If you have time you can go to Mesa Verde and other ruins like Hovenweap. We have stayed at most of the national park areas. PM me if you have questions.

RE: California I 5

We made it back to San Diego. It was very smoky from Redding to Red Bluff. After that it was high smoke. You couldn't see the hills. Highway 299 was closed when we drive by. We didn't see blue sky until we got to Temecula. thanks for all the information.

California I 5

We are planning on driving I 5 from Mt. Shasta to San Diego this week. How bad is the smoke?

California Wildfires

We are in Mt. Shasta, CA and need to go to San Diego leaving this weekend. We are trying to plan a route with the least fires and smoke. The smoke is a big issue as dh has allergies. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks.

Good point! It is in Nevada. I will edit my post.

Primm Valley Resort RV Park, Primm, Nevada

I am very confused. I have not seen an RV park at Primm in recent years. One of the websites for Primm Valley Resort says there is one, the other says there is not. The only phone number I could find is for a reservation site. The person who answered insists that there is an RV park there and was all set to take my credit card to reserve a spot. I am leery. Has anyone been there?

RE: need help to find CG in san diego

We had friends stay at Vacationer in El Cajon last month. They were pleased. It will probably be cheaper than the other suggestions you have.

Oasis RV Park

I know a lot of you love this park. We have always stayed at Circus Circus, but do not like it as well since KOA took it over. I have some questions. Is there a shuttle or public transportation to the strip? Are there any casinos within walking distance? Are the rates on the website accurate? Thanks in advance!

RE: Evansville, Indiana

If you don't have to be right in town there is a nice state park. It is called Harmonie. It is near the interesting town of New Harmony.

RE: LA to Yellowstone

When we were younger we traveled as you are planning. My advice is to get up very early in the morning and stop when you can. You will have less traffic, and it will be cooler.

RE: Escondido, CA

That helps to know what you are interested in. To start, Google San Pasqual Battlefield and Grape Day Park. You will be linked to an Escondido information site.

RE: Escondido, CA

We live 10 miles from Escondido. Whatever you do tomorrow be prepared for very hot weather. It will probably be in the high 90s. I don't know what you like to do. If you pm me I can give you better advice. There are all the major stores, a nice mall, wine tasting, and Indian casinos in the general area. The Wild Aninal Park is close, but it will be even hotter there. If you want to hike, you could go to Dixon Lake or drive 8 miles to Lake Hoges. If you want to be cooler you should head to the coast. I don't know where you are staying or how far you want to drive. Have a good day.
